Gilles Villeneuve
photo album
We needed to put on-line these so many pictures we selected throughout the web, those you kindly sent us and those who were laying unpublished in our archives. We have decided to organize just one album to give everyone the opportunity to live and share them. All these pictures are about Gilles, they tell us about his sport ventures, but they need to be looked at as if we are meeting a friend we haven't met for a long, long time. Villeneuve as a person and not as a character, Villeneuve as a man and not the champion.
Of course, it is hard become aware of him differently than these pictures express because our imagination made him a modern hero and all the media made the same, but Gilles represents all those who could make their dreams come true, all those who could reach unthinkable goals thanks to their obstinacy, will and sacrifice. He was an ordinary person who did extraordinary things just for himself maybe, but surely not to become a martyr or a paladin.
Rights, if we could esteem him for all he did to create his own legend, for his self-denial, for his generosity, for his honesty and for his hard work to be able to be the best or to try to be that one at least. Well, only this way we can perceive his real vital essence and can offer him a new reason to have lived, to have left us a sweet, tremendous and undying memory.

"If they want me this is the way I am, I definetly cannot change: because I need to feel the horsepower pushing my back as much as the air I breathe."
Gilles Villeneuve

He had reached the top of his mountain and for sure,  up there,  he could see everything from a
different point of view of us all, we humble ants, which have chosen to see them from the bottom.

(Jeff Hutchinson from "Grand Prix International magazine" of May 13, 1982)
